The video introduces the carol which was written by a woman named Cecil Alexander. The reference to Royal David's City is to Bethlehem. Joseph and Mary belonged to Nazareth in Galilee but they had travelled to Bethlehem as part of the census arrangements which was for taxation purposes. This was a huge inconvenience - having to travel to the place of the father's birth. But all of this was in God's plan because Bethlehem was the home of King David who was the ancestor of Jesus. It was prophesied that Jesus would be born in Bethlehem. (Micah 5:2) .
