Singing Evangelists at Dawson Mission 11/10/2023

Today we are focusing on one aspect of the story of the wee mission hall beside the large factory manufacturing iron products. Dawson Mission opened its doors in 1902 largely due to the generosity of Miss Dawson of Powfoulis who was the joint owner of the Carron Ironworks. The video covers the 'singing evangelists' from Glasgow - Seth and Betty Sykes. They were also song-writers and musicians. Betty played a portable organ and sang and she composed the music and her husband Seth wrote the lyrics. He was also the preacher and they travelled widely across the United Kingdom and abroad. But they were regular visitors at Dawson Mission.
