This is such a well-known song that there are many cover versions. This hymn was originally written in the year 1934 when a 34 British missionary was cycling across the Carpathian Mountains in Eastern Europe (a journey of 300 miles) It was the rugged terrain and the breath-taking landscapes which provided the inspiration for this beautiful spiritual song.
