The ascension of the Lord Jesus Christ.
The circle which began with Jesus first coming is completed.
[50] And he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. [51] While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven. [52] And they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, [53] and were continually in the temple blessing God. (Luke 24:50-53) See also Acts 1:1-11.

The Lord Jesus' coming was unique and the manner He left earth was also unique
He ascended two months after He died. He took His body with Him.
Jesus left this world when He was alive again never to die ever again.
Jesus is also coming back to this earth, in the same way as He went.
He went up before their eyes, but they were not sad but worshipped!
The heavens changed, because Jesus went back as a Man. (See 1 Timothy 2:5)
The first time, since Adam was separated from the Lord in the Garden of Eden, that a man came into God's presence, to restore everything (1 Corinthians 15:28)
Jesus became the Head of His church and will be King of the universe.
In the Old Testament the order is: God, angels, men and animals. In the New Testament the order is: God, men, angels and animals. Believers in the New Testament are in their position above the angels.
Jesus went back, as the Mediator between God and men. (1 Timothy 2:5)
Jesus went back as the High Priest who intercedes for us. (Hebrews 7:25).
Jesus went back to baptise all believers in the Holy Spirit. (1 Corinthians 12:13)
Jesus went back as our Pioneer and as our Forerunner. (Hebrews 12: 6:20).
Jesus is our advocate when the devil attacks us. Revelation 12:11; 1 John. 2:1.
Why were the disciples so excited?
See Luke 24:31. Their eyes were opened and they understood His ways! (Habakkuk also struggled with the Lord but finally he understood (Habakkuk 3:2).
They rejoiced because Jesus goes to the right place - back to His Home.
Jesus can do more from heaven than from earth. From heaven the devil tempts us and from heaven Jesus is our advocate. (1 John 2:1). Jesus can show the devil His precious blood that has cleansed us all.
They rejoiced because Jesus is preparing a home for us all. John 14:2-3
They rejoice because they see the cloud which reminds them of God's presence, when they walked all those years in the desert (Exodus 13:21).
They rejoice because from there Jesus will intercede for us. (Hebrews 7:25).
The last impression remains and Jesus leaves them and blesses them.
Jesus does not leave angry because they rejected Him. The curse is on the cross Galatians 3:13)Jesus continually blesses all His children. (Ephesians 1:3)
