It may be at morn 28/06/2023

This is a lovely old hymn which I have sung since boyhood days. I shared this video with an old couple during a recent pastoral visit. The dear old brother was very breathless but he managed to sing along - even hitting the high notes accompanied by his wife.

It is good to remind ourselves that Jesus is coming soon. Revelation begins and ends with a reminder that Jesus is coming soon. Sadly, we have spent time arguing over some of the details rather than rejoicing in the certainty of the second coming. Maybe as we sing along to this video we will rejoice in the assurance that Jesus is coming again.

Look, he is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see him, even those who pierced him; and all the peoples of the earth will mourn because of him. [Revelation 1:7 NIV] This verse recounts the impact of his coming on the world which has rejected him.

Behold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End. [Revelation 22:12 NIV] The second coming is presented from the perspective of the believer in the Lord Jesus and the guarantee is sealed by the three titles of Jesus which highlight that his purposes will be fulfilled.

The Bible closes with an assurance - "Yes. I am coming soon." And the response from those who are waiting for that day is, "Amen. Come, Lord Jesus." [Revelation 22:20 NIV]
