I’m going fishing
The blog is a short home-made poem based on the incident in John Chapter 21.
Peter said, "I'm going fishing!“
The others asked, "Can we come too?"
All their world was topsy turvy
Diversion seemed the thing to do.
All that night they toiled at casting
All their efforts were in vain;
Disappointed, tired and hungry
Daybreak did not end their pain.
On the shore there stood the Saviour,
Though they did not realise
"Cast your nets into the water."
His power should be no surprise
Such a heavy draft of fishes;
Nets could not hold any more
Jesus cooked a breakfast for them
At a fire on the shore.
Peter, do you really love me?
Do you really love me more?
If you serve me and don't love me,
Service just becomes a chore.
All my lambs in need of feeding
All my sheep are hungry too
I, the Lord, have loved you truly
I have work for you to do.
Apologies for the poetry! It can be sung to 'What a friend we have in Jesus.'
