The Inside Story of the Day Share Website

What is Day Share?

Day Share is in a sense a community - made up of Christians, many of whom live in the Falkirk area of Scotland. We are all benefiting from studying the Bible together. Because the internet does not limit us to a geographical area, we are glad to welcome subscribers from different parts of the United Kingdom. We also have occasional visitors from other countries

Background

My name is Robert Neilly. I retired early from a career in education  starting as a history teacher and ending as an inclusion manager in North Ayrshire Council Educational Services. Since retiring I have been involved in church activity and as a volunteer at Keswick Convention. I am married to Janie and we have three grown up 'children' and 7 grandchildren.

I started Day Share in September 2019 using WhatsApp and emails to share a short devotional message every second day. We studied a variety of subjects - Parables in Luke's Gospel; the Psalms; Fruits of the Spirit; John's Gospel; Isaiah 40, Life of David, Bible Women, John's Gospel. All of the archives are available for reference.

In March 2021, it was decided to launch a website which would provide greater flexibility and opportunities to share media such as pictures and videos as well as the devotional messages.  You can see the recent blogs on the menu page.

Some Recent Developments

People have told me that this service has been a blessing to them during Lockdown. In partnership with Anne Houston Smith, a Christian musician,  I have made videos of a number of hymns. These are generally in the public domain to avoid copyright issues. These videos have proved popular especially at Christmas.  Our daughter, Fiona Crow has also given permission for me to use her videos and Christian songs which belong to a different genre of music. She is the worship pastor at St Mungo's Church in Balerno, Edinburgh and Livingstone.  She is a singer-songwriter and a talented musician.

Recently,. I have been supported by a small team of advisers - Bryan Dick, Roslyn Melville and Karren McPherson. Karren has taken on the responsibility of providing many of the photographs to illustrate the blogs. I am very grateful for all of this support.
